Family Dynamics Consulting and Teaching Services for Grandparents
The challenges of grandparents are many. Dr. Marjorie Cahn can help you.
Kids have no say in how they arrive or to whom. We as grandparents need to welcome them with open arms, no matter what the family looks like. We need to demystify issues around food, discipline, separation, divorce, illness, and loss. We may need to help children deal with difficult family secrets and differences in child rearing.
Are you parenting your grandchildren?
Retirement from childcare may have been your agenda, and now you are called upon to parent young children. Some grandparents choose to do so. Some come to this role:
because a parent or parents need safe, cost effective child care,
because a parent needs help through illness or divorce, or
because children have been left orphans through illness or other tragedy.
Are you stressed, distraught, or confused about your new role as parents to your grandchildren?
Whether you have chosen the role of parent to your grandchildren or come to it through difficult circumstances. I offer individual coaching by phone anywhere in the United States and I offer grandparent groups in the greater Boston, Massachusetts, area.
In individual phone sessions or in groups, Grandma Marjie deals with the sticky wickets of grandparenting. She will help you tune in to children's needs, help you differentiate between “wants” and “needs” and help you feel more comfortable with difficult issues. She will help you take care of yourself without guilt! [ more ]
